Book a ConsultationWhat dermal fillers do, and what they don't
Dermal fillers restore structure. They rebuild support the face has lost, define contours it never had, and smooth the folds and hollows that make a face read as tired. At our Reigate clinic we treat lips, cheeks, tear troughs, chin and jawline, nasolabial and marionette lines and the nose, using hyaluronic acid gels from established manufacturers including Teoxane and Restylane.
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar your body already makes. It integrates with your own tissue rather than sitting on top of it, and it can be dissolved if you change your mind, which very few cosmetic decisions allow.
Where the product goes matters more than how much of it there is. A face that looks overfilled usually has volume in the wrong plane, not too much of it overall. The fix is assessment, and the assessment is the part of the appointment we take longest over.
Filler is likely to help if- Your face reads as tired even when you are not: hollows under the eyes, flattened cheeks, deepening folds beside the mouth
- You want definition your bone structure does not give you on its own, at the jawline, chin, cheekbone or lips
- A bump or a dip on the nose bothers you in profile and you would rather not have surgery
- One side of the face sits differently from the other
- The concern is skin quality rather than volume: dullness, fine crepey lines, texture. That is a job for skin boosters, not filler
- The lines are made by expression, on the forehead or between the brows, where an anti-wrinkle treatment is the right tool
- The skin is loose rather than the tissue beneath it depleted. Filler cannot lift skin that has lost its elasticity
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, unwell, or under 18. We do not treat under-18s under any circumstances
We decline more often than most clinics. If we do not think filler will improve what concerns you, we will say so and explain what would.

Which filler treatment do you need?
Most people arrive asking about one area and leave with a plan for a slightly different one. These are the six treatments we are asked about most, and what each one is actually for. Each has its own page with results, prices and answers.
Lip filler
Shape, hydration and modest volume, kept in proportion with the rest of the face. Half a millilitre is often enough; the aim is lips that look like yours, not a change of feature.
Cheek filler
The treatment we recommend most often to people who came in asking about something else. Rebuilding mid-face support lifts the under-eye and softens the fold beside the mouth at the same time.
Tear trough filler
For hollows under the eyes that make you look tired regardless of sleep. A precise, conservative treatment, and one where the answer is sometimes the cheek rather than the trough itself.
Chin & jawline filler
A small chin, a soft jawline, early jowling or a profile you dislike. This is structural work: filler placed on bone to build the lower face, not fill it.
Nasolabial & marionette lines
The folds from nose to mouth, and from the mouth corners down. Often treated at the source, in the cheek, and only then in the fold itself.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty
A bump smoothed, a bridge straightened or a tip lifted with a small amount of filler, in minutes, with no surgery and no time off. A millimetre business.
When one area is not the answer
Ageing rarely happens in one place. If the cheeks, under-eyes, chin and jawline have all lost a little, treating them as one balanced plan gives a better and more natural result than treating them one at a time, and costs less per millilitre. Every plan starts with an assessment and facial mapping; the volume is agreed with you before anything is injected.
Refresh
A light touch that addresses the early signs of ageing, or adds subtle structure and contour where it was never there.
Revive
Precise placement across several areas to restore lost volume and bring the proportions of the face back into balance.
Sculpt
A strategic full-face plan for refined contour and definition. Visible, natural and balanced from every angle.
All plans include the consultation, bespoke facial mapping, a written treatment plan and a two-week review. Results typically last twelve to eighteen months. The final cost is confirmed after your medical assessment, and can be split over more than one visit.
A 10ml full-face plan from assessment to result, in under three minutes. See the full treatment journey, including the complete 14-minute appointment and what was treated, and why.
How Dr Haroon Ashraf approaches dermal filler
Assessment
Filler goes wrong in one predictable way: product placed where it looks striking on the day and heavy within a year. So we start with where support has actually been lost, not where more of it might look good. The face is looked at front-on and in profile, at rest and in animation, and at how each area relates to the ones around it.
Only then is a plan made, and quite often it is a smaller plan than the one you came in with. Longevity also depends on what is still there: filler often persists long after its visible effect has faded, so we assess before adding rather than topping up to a calendar. That is how people drift into being overfilled without ever choosing it.
Product and Placement
Hyaluronic acid filler only, chosen area by area: a firmer gel for the chin and jawline, a softer one for the lips and under the eyes. Hyaluronic acid is reversible with hyaluronidase, and that is the reason we use nothing else.
Placement follows the anatomy. Structural areas are treated deep, on the bone, in small deposits; the lips and tear troughs are treated with a cannula or a fine needle in the plane that gives a smooth result. Small volumes, well placed, make a bigger difference than large ones placed generally.
Comfort
Topical anaesthetic is applied first and the filler itself contains lidocaine. Most areas are described as pressure rather than pain; the lips and nose are the most sensitive and are numbed most thoroughly.
Bruising is possible with any injection and we take care to minimise it. If you take blood-thinning medication, tell us, and we will plan around it rather than ask you to stop anything.
What the appointment looks like
Before You Arrive
You complete a medical questionnaire and consent form online before the day, so the appointment itself is about you rather than paperwork. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, and come with clean skin if you can.
If you are travelling from Redhill, Merstham, Dorking, Banstead, Leatherhead, Horley or Caterham, allow a little extra time for parking on Holmesdale Road; the clinic is about ten minutes from junction 8 of the M25.
On the Day
A consultation and facial assessment with Dr Ashraf, then the plan is agreed with you, including the volume and the cost, before anything is opened. Numbing cream is applied while photographs are taken.
The injecting itself takes five to ten minutes per area. You will see the shape immediately, with some swelling, and you can go straight back to your day.
Afterwards
Mild swelling and tenderness settle over two to three days; the lips and under-eyes swell most. Avoid makeup and touching the area for four hours, and skip strenuous exercise, saunas and pressure on the area for 48 hours. The final result is at about two weeks.
You leave with written aftercare and Dr Ashraf's direct contact details, and a review appointment at two weeks is included, where any adjustment is made if it is needed.
Dermal filler before and after
Every photograph below is of a patient treated by Dr Ashraf, shown with their written permission. Unretouched and unfiltered; where a patient has asked for it, their eyes are covered for privacy. Results are individual and yours will differ. Each treatment page carries a fuller set, and our results page follows eight patients through their plans.

Adjustment
Prices are per one-millilitre syringe unless stated. Consultation, treatment and your two-week review are included; there is no separate consultation fee. Some areas need more than one syringe for the result you want, and we will tell you so, with the cost, at the assessment rather than partway through. Full-face plans are priced above, and every treatment at the clinic is listed on our pricing page.
Risks, and how we reduce them
Dermal filler is a medical procedure and it carries medical risk. Any clinic that tells you otherwise is not one to be treated at.
Which is exactly why who treats you matters. Dr Ashraf is a GMC-registered doctor, trained to recognise a vascular occlusion and to reverse it with hyaluronidase, the agent used to dissolve filler, which is kept in the clinic at all times. He also teaches: over 1,000 doctors, dentists and nurses have been trained by him in injectable technique and in complication management.
Every treatment here is carried out by Dr Ashraf and not delegated, we use reversible hyaluronic acid filler only, you have his direct contact details for the period after treatment, and we decline treatments we do not think are in your interest. More about Dr Haroon Ashraf.

Dermal filler FAQs
How long do dermal fillers last?
Typically twelve to eighteen months, longer in structural areas like the chin and cheeks and shorter in the lips, which move constantly. The product often outlasts its visible effect, which is why we assess what is still there before adding more rather than topping up on a schedule.
Will I look overfilled or unnatural?
Not if the volume is placed in the right plane and kept in proportion. Most overfilled faces are the result of volume added where it was never lost. We plan from the assessment rather than from the syringe, and we stop when the balance is restored. If you change your mind, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved.
Which area should I start with?
Often not the one you came in about. Tired eyes are frequently a cheek problem, and folds beside the mouth are usually a mid-face problem. The consultation is where this gets worked out; the six treatment pages above describe what each area is for.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream is applied first and the filler contains local anaesthetic. Most areas feel like pressure. The lips and nose are the most sensitive and are numbed most carefully.
How much filler will I need, and what will it cost?
Many single areas need one millilitre; lips often need half. If you have lost volume across several areas, a full-face plan of two to twelve millilitres treats them together and costs less per millilitre. You will be told what we think you need, and the price, before anything is injected.
What can I do afterwards?
Avoid makeup and touching the area for four hours. For 48 hours, skip strenuous exercise, saunas and anything that puts pressure on the treated area. Bruising is uncommon and can be covered with concealer after four hours. Full aftercare is given in writing.
Can filler be combined with other treatments?
Yes, and it often should be. Filler restores structure; anti-wrinkle treatment softens lines made by expression, and skin boosters improve the quality of the skin itself. Where more than one is right for you, they are planned as one sequence.
Where are you, and do you see patients from outside Reigate?
The clinic is at 3 Holmesdale Road in Reigate, Surrey, open seven days a week by appointment. Patients come to us from Redhill, Merstham, Dorking, Banstead, Leatherhead, Horley and Caterham, and from further across Surrey and south London; junction 8 of the M25 is about ten minutes away.
