Non-surgical rhinoplasty, also called nose filler, uses a small amount of filler to straighten the line of the nose, disguise a bump, lift a drooping tip or correct an asymmetry, without surgery and without the recovery that surgery involves. It is a millimetre business. The nose is the centre of the face, and half a millilitre in the wrong place is visible from across a room.
It is also the area of the face where technique and a deep understanding of the anatomy matter most. Done appropriately, it is a safe and predictable treatment; it is the reason we are more selective about offering it than any other, and the reason you should be selective about who does it.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty tends to suit you if- There is a bump on the bridge that you would like disguised — filler above and below the bump straightens the line, and the bump disappears into it
- The tip droops, particularly when you smile
- The nose looks flat or wide from the front and would benefit from more definition along the bridge
- There is a mild asymmetry or a slight deviation
- You would like to see what a change to your profile looks like before considering surgery
- You want your nose to be smaller — filler adds; it cannot reduce
- The bump is large, or the deviation significant — that is a surgical problem, and we will say so
- You have had surgical rhinoplasty — not an absolute no, but the risk profile changes and we assess these with particular care
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an active infection or skin condition on or around the nose
- You are under 18 — we do not treat under-18s under any circumstances
If what you want cannot be achieved with filler, we will say so at the consultation, and we would rather you heard it from us than found it out afterwards.
How Dr Haroon Ashraf approaches non-surgical rhinoplasty
Assessment
We look at the nose in profile and front-on, at rest and smiling: where the bump sits, what the tip does when you talk and smile, the thickness of the skin over the bridge, and how the nose relates to the chin and the forehead, because a profile is a relationship between all three. We ask about previous surgery and previous filler, and we photograph from set angles so that you can see the change objectively.
Then we are direct about what filler can and cannot do. It adds; it never takes away. A nose can be made to look straighter, more defined and, from some angles, smaller. It cannot be made smaller.
Product and Placement
A firm, highly structured hyaluronic acid filler, placed deep against the bone and cartilage in the midline, in very small amounts — usually well under a millilitre in total. The midline is where the blood vessels are fewest, and the technique is built around that anatomy: slow, deep, small volumes, and nothing placed where a vessel might be.
Hyaluronic acid is reversible, and in the nose that matters more than anywhere: it is the reason we use nothing else, and it is what allows a problem to be reversed rather than managed.
Comfort
Topical anaesthetic is applied first, and the filler itself contains lidocaine. The treatment is brief. The tip of the nose is more sensitive than the bridge, and most people describe pressure and a few moments of discomfort rather than pain. The technique — where and how the filler is placed — is chosen for the area to give the best result while keeping trauma, and any discomfort, to a minimum.
Bruising is less common in the nose than elsewhere on the face, but it is possible. If you take blood-thinning medication, tell us, and we will plan around it.
What the appointment looks like
Before You Arrive
You will be sent a medical questionnaire and consent form to complete beforehand, so the time in clinic is spent on you rather than on paperwork. Tell us about any previous nose surgery, however long ago.
Ideally, avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment. If you take any blood-thinning medication, let Dr Ashraf know — continue taking it as prescribed; it simply means bruising is a little more likely and we plan around it.
On the Day
Plan for around 45 minutes. Consultation and assessment come first, including profile photographs, then topical anaesthetic, then the treatment itself, which takes 10 to 15 minutes. The result is visible immediately, and you will see it in the mirror before you leave.
We photograph before and after at every appointment. Those photographs are yours, they form part of your clinical record, and they are only ever used elsewhere with your separate written permission.
Afterwards
Expect mild swelling and tenderness for a few days, and a little redness at the injection points. Avoid pressure on the nose while the product settles: no glasses or sunglasses resting on the bridge for the first 48 to 72 hours, and no rubbing. The result settles over two weeks.
You will have written aftercare before you leave, and Dr Ashraf's direct contact details if anything concerns you. We review at two weeks, included rather than charged for.

The price covers the treatment whatever volume is used. We almost never need more than one millilitre, and most noses need well under that. Consultation, the treatment itself and your two-week review are all included; there is no separate consultation fee and no charge for the review.

Risks, and how we reduce them
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a medical procedure and it carries medical risk. Any clinic that tells you otherwise is not one to be treated at.
Mild swelling, tenderness and redness at the injection points for a few days. Occasional bruising. A slight feeling of firmness along the bridge while the product settles.
Asymmetry, a small lump, or slight unevenness along the bridge. A tip that looks over-lifted or a bridge that looks too full. All are correctable, most of them by dissolving.
Vascular occlusion — filler entering or compressing a blood vessel — is the rare complication that matters with any filler, and the nose is the area where technique and a deep understanding of the anatomy matter most. The most serious outcomes are extraordinarily rare, estimated at around one in every three to five million treatments, and the chances are diminished further by good technique and proper anatomical knowledge. Done appropriately, non-surgical rhinoplasty is a safe and predictable treatment. Infection and delayed-onset nodules are also rare but possible.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty FAQs
How long does non-surgical rhinoplasty last?
Typically twelve to eighteen months, and often longer than that. The product is firm, it is placed deep against bone and cartilage, and the nose barely moves, so it holds well. We assess what is still there before adding anything at a later appointment.
Can nose filler make my nose smaller?
No. Filler adds; it cannot take anything away. What it can do is make a nose look straighter, more defined and better balanced, and from some angles that reads as smaller: a bump disguised by straightening the bridge, or a tip lifted so the nose looks shorter in profile. If you want a physically smaller nose, that is surgery, and we will say so.
Will it look natural?
Done with restraint, yes. The volumes involved are tiny, and the aim is a straighter line rather than a different nose. The most common mistake in non-surgical rhinoplasty is over-filling the bridge, which can make a nose look larger from the front. We stop early, and we can add at your review if we both agree it is needed.
Can I have it if I have had a surgical rhinoplasty?
Sometimes, but with particular care. Surgery changes the blood supply of the nose and the tissue planes, and both raise the risk of injecting it afterwards. We assess previous surgical noses case by case, we are honest when we think the risk is not justified, and we will decline where it is not.
Does it hurt?
The treatment is brief and most people describe pressure and a few moments of discomfort rather than pain. Topical anaesthetic goes on first, the filler itself contains lidocaine, and the tip, which is the more sensitive part, is treated quickly.
Can I wear glasses afterwards?
We ask you to avoid anything resting on the bridge of the nose for the first 48 to 72 hours, including glasses and sunglasses, so that the product settles where it was placed. After that, you can wear them as normal.
Is it safe?
Done appropriately, with good technique and a deep understanding of the anatomy, yes: it is a safe and predictable treatment. The nose is the area of the face where those two things matter most, and the very rare serious complications are rarer still in experienced hands. Ask whoever treats you what their medical qualification is, whether they keep hyaluronidase on site, and how they manage a complication. We are happy to answer all three.
What if I don't like it?
Hyaluronic acid filler is reversible, so it can be dissolved. We would wait at least two weeks first, so the swelling has gone and the product has settled, and we would talk it through at your review before making that decision.
